NYUGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

Nyungwe forest national park is located in the south western part of Rwanda bordering Burundi in the south and Lake Kivu in the west at the D.R Congo .Apparently Nyungwe is one of the best preserved montane forest national in rest of central Africa. It’s situated on the basin of river Congo to the west and the Nile basin in the east.

 It spans 970km and its establishments was in 2004, it consists of the swampy vegetation, grasslands, bogs, bamboo and rainforest. This has however led to an increase in diversity of animal species which includes the chimpanzees giving rise to chimpanzee tracking activity, the grey cheeked mongabey monkey, Rwenzori colobus monkeys and hoest monkeys that are found almost everywhere in the forest. Nyungwe has also a number of bird species amounting to 310 species.
