Safari highlights.
Another 4 day eastern congo lowland gorilla trekking into yet another wild Congo home for the endangered gorillas. It features the most interesting Congo safaris i.e. tracking lowland gorillas at kahuzi- biega national park and the endangered mountain gorillas at Virunga Mountains.
Day 1: Arrival to Kigali Rwanda.
Arrive to Kigali international airport meet the guide and be briefed about your safari into Congo. Later transfer to your hotel in Kigali for dinner and accommodation. If you are early you get a chance to tour Kigali city.
Day 2: Drive to Bukavu – DR Congo.
Early in the morning after breakfast, your guide will pick you and drive you south west wards to Cyangugu border to Bakavu in DR Congo, have a brief stop at Butare to visit the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace at Nyanza not forgetting the Rwanda genocide Memorial site. Later after lunch you will proceed to the Bukavu the entire journey is a thrilling one filled with the beautiful sceneries of the hills, forests like Nyungwe forest, swamps and several homesteads. Once you reach Bukavu, you will check in your to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
Accommodation include coco lodge (for luxury category), orchid lodge for mid-range category and horizon for budget category.
Day 3: Tracking the lowland gorilla at Kahuzi- Biega.
Early in the morning after breakfast. Proceed to the park headquarters for briefing on the lowland gorilla tracking adventure you will be told dos and don’ts and be assigned a guide who will take to the forest in search for the lowland gorillas, the lowland gorillas are bigger in size .
It takes 1- 4 hours to interface with the gorillas, the lowland gorilla families are much bigger than that of the maintain gorillas. later after tracking, you will undertake nature walk through the park visiting the Tshibati waterfalls, visit the Mbayo tea plantation, Bukavu town, the research center and the tradtionlal homes around it. Retire to place of accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Drive back to Kigali
Early in the morning wake to the chapping sounds of the birds in the surrounding area of the lodge, After breakfast, your guide will drive you back to Kigali crossing Cyangugu border into Rwanda, reach Kigali later in the afternoon.
