Bwindi forest park fees 2022-2024 : Bwindi impenetrable national park also known as Bwindi Forest is one of the most popular safari destinations in Uganda located in South Western region on the edge of the Rift Valley, the park is famously known for being a home to the largest population of mountain gorillas in the world and it is one of the only two mountain gorilla populations in the world.

Bwindi impenetrable national park is a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site, the park covering an area of 321 square kilometers comprises of mist – covered hillsides blanketed by one of the Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rain forests dating back over 25,000 years.

Bwindi impenetrable national park hosts over 600 mountain gorillas with 18 habituated gorilla families found in the 4 sectors of the park that is Buhoma, Rushaga, Ruhija and Nkuringo. These gorilla families include Mucunguzi gorilla family, Bikyingi gorilla family, Busingye gorilla family, Kahungye gorilla family, Bweza gorilla family, Mishaya gorilla family, Nshongi gorilla family, Kyaguriro gorilla family, Oruzogo gorilla family, Bitukura gorilla family, Christmas gorilla family, Bushaho gorilla family, Nkuringo gorilla family, Katwe gorilla family, Rushegura gorilla family, Habinyanja gorilla family and Mubare gorilla family.

Bwindi impenetrable national park rules and regulations 

Mountain gorilla trekking is the major Uganda safari activity in Bwindi impenetrable national park offering an encounter with the critically endangered mountain gorillas, for the protection of both mountain gorillas and the visitors, there is a set of rules and regulations governing the experience and these include

Before you set out

  • Do not participate in visiting the mountain gorillas if you have a cold or other infectious illnesses
  • The minimum age for mountain gorilla trekking is 15 years
  • Human wastes should be buried 30 cm deep
  • A maximum number of 8 persons per group are allowed to visit each gorilla group once a day

When you are with the gorillas

  • Maintain a distance of 7 m (21 ft) distance from the gorilla
  • Smoking, eating and drinking is prohibited while on mountain gorilla trekking experience
  • If you must sneeze or cough, cover your face and turn away from the gorillas as they can catch coughs and colds from humans
  • Being in the presence of mountain gorillas is limited to only one hour
  • When taking pictures, do not use a flash as they irritate the gorillas
