Mount Sabinyo information
There are three challenging peaks on Mt. Sabyinyo (3669 meters), and ascending the mountain requires climbing a ridge on the eastern side of the mountain. The ascent to the summit entails traveling a ridge with breathtaking drops into Rwandan and Ugandan gorges, giving you a dual experience. There is also a hard ascent with multiple ladders and mud scrambling. On your way to Peak 111, you will undoubtedly get your hands muddy! After reaching the summit, you will visit Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Uganda—what a trip! The 14-kilometer section takes almost eight hours to complete round-trip.
Mount Gahinga information
Gahinga Mountain (3474m) Keep an eye out for little stone mounds in the garden fields on your route to the park. Such a mound is referred to as a “Gahinga” by the locals. Although Mount Gahinga is much larger than the typical “gahinga,” Mount Muhavura makes it appear smaller. An excellent example of a pure bamboo forest is traversed via a hike that takes roughly six to seven hours round way. Originally, Gahinga had a Crater Lake, but with time, it transformed into a lush wetland. The wetland is eight kilometers away.
