Best time to Visit Tanzania

Best time to Visit Tanzania

Tanzania’s main draw is the Great Migration, which takes place all year over the Serengeti. Many visitors come here between July and September to see vast herds of wildebeest and zebra cross the Mara River, where they strive to dodge the jaws of crocodiles and other predators ready to pounce. However, there will be a lot of automobiles in the park this time of year.

Tanzania’s ‘green season,’ which runs from November to March, is significantly quieter. While there is a potential of rain showers, this is an excellent time for birdwatching as migratory birds come in droves. You’ll also encounter Great Migration herds with their newborn calves.

The one time we avoid Tanzania is between April and May, when heavy rains can hinder animal viewing.

The migrating herds are in the southeast Serengeti for calving season at this time of year, so the Ndutu Plains are bustling, but it is fantastic to witness so many creatures in one spot.
