This Uganda and Tanzania combined safari take you on an adventure on which you will get a closer encounter the world’s iconic wildlife species including the Big Five – lions, leopards, buffaloes, rhinos and elephants, and the world’s greatest wildlife movement where over one million wildebeests and thousands of zebras cross from Kenya’s Masai Mara into Tanzania’s Serengeti looking for water and pasture.

Witness the thunderous stampede as the wildebeests avoid open jaws of large Nile crocodiles, only to land into an ambush of the hungry predators on the banks of the river. After exploring the endless plains of Serengeti, Tarangire and Ngorongoro Crater. Head to the iconic Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for an encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas.

Detailed itinerary of 13 Days Gorilla Trekking Uganda and Tanzania Safari

Day 1: Arrive Arusha -Tanzania

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Park, you will be warmly welcomed by your personal driver-guide and be transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Spend the evening immersing yourself in the vibrant Arusha atmosphere, have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Tarangire National Park

After a delicious breakfast, checkout of your room and drive to Tarangire National Park the most scenic park in Tanzania. The park’s landscape is dotted with acacia trees, baobab trees and open grasslands. On arrival in the park, you will be welcomed by the huge herds of elephants as you head to your lodge for lunch and check in.

In the afternoon, you will go for a game drive on which you will see several animals including giraffes, waterbucks, zebras, elephants , hartebeests, gazelles and several birds including the giant martial eagle.

Day 3: Game Viewing in Tarangire National Park

Have early breakfast and head to Tarangire National Park for a full day game drive, morning and afternoon game drive. Explore the savannah plains of Tarangire and visit Tarangire River where you will see large herds of elephants, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes among others.

The day will be crowned with a complementary wild sundowner before dinner and evening game drive to spot nocturnal animals including African wild cat and the elusive leopard. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater

Checkout of the lodge after breakfast and drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will have a stop at the view point to for magnificent view of Ngorongoro Crater from above. You will be welcomed Maasai “Enkangs” (homesteads). Brace yourself for a thrilling culture and wildlife experience in the Ngorongoro Crater, a 2,000 feet-deep- caldera.

Game viewing in Ngorongoro Caldera offers a fascinating miniature of East Africa wildlife, including buffaloes, lions, leopards, wildebeests, zebras and flamingoes on the shores of Lake Magadi. Head to your lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Game Drives in Ngorongoro Crater

Have a full day exploring the incredible Ngorongoro Crater. Descend into Ngorongoro Crater and explore this amazing nature wildlife haven, the crater is home to a huge population of wildlife including zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, herds of buffaloes, elephants and rhinos roaming around.

Visit Lake Magadi and watch the flamingoes as the feed and play. In the evening, visit a Maasai Village and learn about the charming culture and traditions of this tribe, their nomadic lifestyle and how they co-exist with wildlife.

Day 6: Transfer to Serengeti National Park

Check out of your lodge and depart for Serengeti National Park, boundless vast plains where lions, hyenas and leopards freely roam. You will be welcomed by the beautiful endless savannah plains and sights of animals as you head to your lodge for check-in and lunch.

In the afternoon you will go for a game drive exploring the unspoiled plains of Northern Serengeti, close to the famous Lamai Wedge and enjoy sighting of lions, leopards, zebras, wildebeests among others. Head to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Game Drives in Serengeti National Park

Have a full day for exploring Serengeti Plains in your private safari vehicle to catch up with live sights and sounds of the Great Migration. Witness over one million wildebeests and thousands of zebras across Mara River into Serengeti in a stampede as they avoid pen jaws of the large Nile crocodiles. Here, you can’t miss hungry predator including lions and leopards, as they go against all odd to survive. After this thrilling experience, you will be treated to a sundowner as you watch African skies go dim.  

Day 8: Transfer to Grumeti Reserve

After a delicious breakfast, you will be transferred to Western Serengeti. Along the way expect to see several animals including lions, leopards, wildebeests, zebras among others. Arrive in time for lunch, featuring a wine tasting the lodge. Spend the afternoon relaxing in the spa or you may wish to head out on a game drive before dinner.

Day 9: Full Day Game Drives in Grumeti Reserve

Have morning and afternoon game drives in the vast plains of the Private Singita Conservancy giving you exclusive wildlife encounters and witness great migration privates. With such close proximity to the river and plains, enjoy unique opportunity to experience a very close connection with the wilderness. End the day with another sundowner before you return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. 

Day 10: Transfer to Arusha & Fly to Uganda – Entebbe International Airport

After a relaxed breakfast, you will be driven back to the Arusha where you driver will drop you off at Kilimanjaro International Airport to catch a flight to Entebbe International Airport.

On arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide and be transferred to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After a relaxed breakfast, embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with en-route in Kayabwe at the Equator Monument for pictures and in Mbarara for lunch. Arrive in the park in the evening, check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight as you get ready for next day’s adventure.

Day 12: Mountain Gorilla Tracking Experience

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking, a senior ranger will take through rules and regulations to follow. In groups of 8 people, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and head into the forests of Bwindi looking for mountain gorillas.

Gorilla trekking is a rare encounter with gentle giant mountain gorillas, this is no doubt the absolute highlight of an East Africa Safari encounter. It is a humbling experience to stand a few meters from the gentle giants as they eat, rest, play and bond with their each other. You are allowed to spend only one hour with the gorillas and take amazing pictures of the mountain gorillas. Return to the lodge for a complementary body massage and rest. 

Day 13: Fly to Entebbe and Depart

Today marks the end of your 13 Days Gorilla Trekking Uganda and Tanzania Safari, after breakfast you will embark on a journey back to Kampala where your guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport to catch your flight back home.
