Detailed itinerary of 14 Days Victoria Falls Serengeti and Gorilla Trekking Safari

Day 1: Arrival in Harare, Zimbabwe & Fly to Victoria Falls

On arrival at Harere Airport, you will catch a connecting domestic flight to Victoria Falls Airport where you will be warmly welcomed by our representative then transfer you to your lodge/hotel for an evening of relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Overnight at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge.

Day 2: Visit to the Victoria Falls

Enjoy morning breakfast and later head out for a guided walking tour to the mighty Victoria Falls through the splendid rainforest with various species of plants and birds. This experience offers you a fantastic view of the Victoria Falls, the Cataracts and Livingstone Statue.

Return to your lodge for lunch and spend the rest of day relaxing, have dinner and overnight at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge.

Day 3: Optional Tours of Victoria Falls

Since there are no scheduled activities and experience today, you will wake up at leisure and enjoy breakfast. Depending on your presence, you can decide to stay at the lodge enjoying the swimming pool or relax in your bed. There are several excursions you can take part in around Victoria Falls including Flight over the Victoria Falls in a helicopter, Bunjee jumping, white water rafting and abseiling among others.

Later in the afternoon, head out for a sunset boat cruise on the Zambezi River on the African Queen. At the Royal Landing, you are greeted with a cold cocktail and the sounds of the Marimba Band, a local instrument that laments the sounds of Africa. On the boat, there is a full bar on both upper and lower deck serving a selection of cocktails, iced drinks and a variety of snacks. In the evening, you will return to your hotel for overnight.

Day 4: Visit to the Craft Markets and Transfer to Harare for your Flight to Arusha- Tanzania

After breakfast, you many have a leisurely visit to the Crafts Market or simply relax at the lodge awaiting your transfer flight to Harare Airport to catch your connecting flight to Arusha’s Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Day 5: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast, you will embark on a journey to Ngorongoro Crater “Ngorongoro Conservation Area”. Have a stop at the View Point where you will enjoy amazing views of Ngorongoro Crater from above, head to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will go for a guided walking tour on the crater rim giving you a chance to have a close encounter with wildlife including giraffes, zebras, and elands among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive and Visit to Masai Village

Have early breakfast, meet your guide and descend into the crater floor for a full day game drive. Ngorongoro Crater is the largest inactive Volcanic Caldera in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ngorongoro Crater was created by the collapse of a former volcanic mountain leaving behind a crater of about 264 square kilometers with a depth of over 600 meters.

During the game drive in Ngorongoro Crater, you will enjoying spotting several animals including African elephants, buffaloes, black rhinos, hippos, hyenas, cheetahs and lions among other animals. After enjoying picnic lunch, you will go for a visit to the Masai Village for a cultural experience and interact with the Maasai people. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge.

Day 7: Transfer to Serengeti

After breakfast, you will embark on a journey to Serengeti National Park with a stop at Olduvai Gorge – a remarkable archaeological site and a UNESCO World Heritage. The site is a paleoanthropological site in the Eastern Serengeti Plains nicknamed the “Cradle of Mankind”, here you will several discoveries by Dr. Leakey among others.

Have picnic lunch and when you arrive in Serengeti, you will have a game drive as you head to your lodge, check in for dinner and overnight stay at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge.

Day 8-9: Full Day Game Drive with Optional Balloon Safari

Spend these two days on full day game drives in Serengeti National Park on full day game drive and optional Balloon Safari.

Balloon Safari is done early in morning, soaring up the sky at the break of dawn. During the flight you enjoy aerial views of the endless plains of Serengeti and an eye’s view of the animals. The Balloon Safari experience is concluded with Champagne breakfast set in the bush, then go for a full day game drive.

As you explore the endless plains of Serengeti, you will be treated to sights of various animals including prides of lions, elephants, buffaloes, wildebeests, elands, gazelles and zebras among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge.

Day 10: Transfer to Tarangire National Park and afternoon game drive

After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and transfer to Tarangire National Park with en-route game drive. Arrive in time lunch which you will enjoy at your lodge or a picnic site and spend the rest of the day exploring the park.

Tarangire National Park is a famous Tanzania National Park famous for its diverse landscape with nine different vegetation zone, the park is particularly known for the Ancient Baobab Trees – the largest trees in the continent as well large herds of elephants. Later head to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Mbali Mbali Tarangire River Camp.

Day 11: Transfer to Kilimanjaro for a flight to Kigali – Rwanda

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge, bid farewell to Tarangire and embark on a journey back to Arusha where you will be dropped off at the Kilimanjaro International Airport to catch your flight to Kigali International Airport.

You will be warmly welcomed by our representative and be transferred to your hotel for dinner and overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel.

Day 12: City Tour and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Have breakfast and head to Kigali City for a tour visiting the bustling markets, the Kigali Memorial Centre and Kimironko Crafts Market. Then embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which is 3-4 hours’ drive away, along the way you will enjoy scenic views of rolling hills and en-route lunch.

Arrive in the park in the afternoon, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight at Buhoma Lodge

Day 13: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

Wake up for breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing about the dos and don’ts about gorilla trekking and how to conduct yourself while in the forest and presence of mountain gorillas. In groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and head into the forest in search for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 30 minutes to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night.

You are allocated 1 hour of being in the presence of the gorillas watching them groom each other, watch them play and take amazing pictures. Return to the park headquarters, meet your guide and either return to the lodge or head to the Batwa Village for a cultural experience. You will interact with the local people, be entertained by local dances and drama among others. Have dinner and overnight.  

Day 14: Departure.

After breakfast, you will checkout of your lodge and embark on a journey back to Kigali City with border crossing at Katuna Border. Your guide will drop you off at the airport to catch your flight back home bringing your safari to an end.
