Detailed itinerary of 8 days Best of Kenya and Tanzania safari private lodging safari

Day 1: Pick up, Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve

 To start your safari, you will be picked from the airport by our guide and after a short briefing about the safari you will embark on your journey to Masai Mara with two stops. One in Narok for an interaction with the local Masai people and another at the Great Rift Valley view point to enjoy sightings of the Rift Valley Escarpments.

Continue to Masai Mara National Reserve arriving time for lunch, after a short relaxation you will head out for an evening game drive giving you a fascinating introduction to this fascination reserve. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Game Drive in Masai Mara, Maasai Cultural Tour

Wake up early to a morning game drive in the Masai Mara after breakfast and get to see various wild game in the park including the Big Five- lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffaloes. Lookout for various bird species and the beautiful landscape of the reserve.

Enjoy picnic lunch in the wilderness and continue exploring the reserve till late afternoon, then go for a Maasai Cultural Tour in the Maasai village along the borders of the park. Here you will have an opportunity to learn about the way of life of the Maasai people, their customs and traditions, be entertained by local dances and drama. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay as above.

Day 3: Optional Hot Air Balloon Ride, Game Drive in Masai Mara

Wake up early for an optional hot air balloon ride over the fascinating Masai Mara Plains, enjoy an eye’s view of the animals and the plains, magical sunrises over the Masai Mara and amazing views of the savannah plains dotted with acacia trees. Balloon Safari is a great opportunity for photographers, the climax of your hot air balloon ride is toasting to life on a champagne breakfast in the wilderness.

After the balloon ride over the Masai Mara, enjoy game drives in the Mara Plains in search for various wildlife in the park. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay as above.

Day 4: Transfer to Serengeti National Park

After a delicious breakfast, check out of the lodge and leave the Masai Mara and transfer to Serengeti National Park, with your packed lunch. After clearing with the immigrations at the Isebania Border, proceed to your lodge of stay in Serengeti with en-route game drive giving you an introduction to Serengeti National Park.

Day 5: Full Day in Serengeti National Park

After your early breakfast at the lodge, head to Serengeti for a full day game drive with your lunch boxes along the Seronera Area. Explore the region and enjoy the big game around the Seronera River, some of the wildlife to look out for include lions, Thomson gazelles, topis, ostriches and cheetahs among others.

After the game drive, you will enjoy lunch at a picnic site and continue exploring the endless plains of Serengeti till sunset. You will have a game drive to the Kopjes – the weathered granite outcrops, scattered around the plains, most of which are miniature ecosystems providing shade and drinking water in pools left in the rock after rains. Return for dinner and overnight stay above. 

Day 6: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Crater Rim Walk

After breakfast, you will check out of your lodge and transfer out of Serengeti with a morning game drive. Have en-route lunch and when you arrive in Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will go for a walking safari. With your ranger guides, you will come-up close with nature and wildlife and thereafter proceed for a transfer to your lodge of stay.

Day 7: Full Day Ngorongoro Crater Drive

Enjoy an early breakfast, proceed to descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife for a full day game viewing experience.

Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact caldera in the world and a World Heritage Site, the crater floor is home to the largest concentration of wildlife in the world. During the game drive lookout for several animals including herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. And predators which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard.

You will also visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the Southwestern corner which is one of the main features of the crater. Here you will see a large number of flamingoes, hippos and other water birds. Thereafter, you will ascend the crater and return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8: Departure with En-route Tarangire Park Game Drive

After breakfast at the lodge, with your packed lunch proceed to transfer to Arusha with en-route stopover in Tarangire National Park for an amazing half day game drive.

Tarangire National Park is famous for the large herds of free ranging elephants and baobab trees among other attractions. Enjoy picnic lunch and the transfer to Arusha, your guide shall drop you off at Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back home or hotel of stay in Arusha bringing your safari to an end.
