Detailed itinerary of 8 Days Tanzania Safari and Gorilla Trekking

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative (your driver guide) and embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Southwestern Uganda.

Along the journey you will have a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe for a chance to stand in both Northern and Southern Hemisphere, photographic opportunity and water experience. Then have another stopover in Mbarara for lunch, continue to Bwindi Forest through the rolling green hills of banana and tea plantations. Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest and evening community walk

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide and packed lunch and head to Bwindi Forest for gorilla trekking. You will join other trekkers at the park headquarters for briefing about the dos and donts during your gorilla trekking at 7:45 am.

With armed rangers and guides, you will head into the forest looking for mountain gorillas. The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of mountain gorillas and where they spent their previous night. When you find these gentle giants you are allowed to spend one hour in their presence watching them go on with their life in the forest, groom each other and pick fruits and leaves. You are allowed to take as many pictures as you want as long as your flashlight is off.

Then trek back to the park headquarters to meet your safari driver and head to the Batwa Community for a cultural experience, here you will have an opportunity to learn about the Batwa pygmies, how they used to live the forest, be entertained by local dances and drama among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer back to Entebbe Airport for evening flights to Arusha Tanzania

After breakfast, you will checkout of your lodge and embark on a journey to Kampala with lunch in Mbarara. When you arrive in Kampala, you will be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport to catch your flight to Arusha – Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Upon landing, you will be welcomed by our guide and transfer to your hotel in Arusha for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area & afternoon game drive

After breakfast at your lodge, you will embark on a journey to Ngorongoro Conservation Area – the Garden of Eden and the largest intact caldera in the world.

From Arusha, it is a drive of approximately 3 hours and when you arrive you will have a stopover at the view point where you enjoy views of the crater from above. Then descend into the crater for a game drive, lookout for several animals including lions, black rhinos, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs and much more.

After sunset, you will head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, embark on a journey to Serengeti National Park – the most iconic national park in Africa and a host for the Great Wildebeest Migration. Serengeti is also a UNESCO World Heritage, along the journey you will have a chance to stop by the Olduvai Gorge where you will have chance to learn much about the human evolution with the researchers.

With en-route game drive, you will head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6 &7: Full Day Game Drive in the Serengeti

Spend these two days exploring the endless plains of Serengeti National Park on full day game drives with picnic lunches.

Serengeti National Park’s game drives are much rewarding safari experience offering you a chance to explore various areas of the park, a perfect snapshot of true African wilderness  and  excellent sightings of several wildlife species including zebras, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, gazelles, antelopes and millions of wildebeests.

Serengeti National Park is also a perfect destination to spot predators including lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs.

On these two days, there are optional activities you can do including hot air balloon safari and visit to the Masai Village where you will interact with the Masai people and learn more about their customs and traditions.
