Detailed itinerary of 7 Days Tanzania Wildebeest Migration Safari
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
To start your safari, our driver guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha and embark on a journey to Tarangire National Park. It is a 150 km drive that can is covered in about 3 hours.
Tarangire National Park is an iconic Tanzania National Park famous and special for its diverse landscape dotted with nine different vegetation zones including Baobab Trees and large herds of elephants. When you arrive in the park, you will begin your game drive. You will be welcomed by the ancient and gigantic Baobab tree which are so huge and make even animals like the giraffe look tiny. The game drive goes on till late afternoon with a brief stop for picnic lunch.
Head to your lodge for check in, dinner and overnight stay.

Main Destination: Tarangire National Park
Day 2: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park
This is an exciting day, have early morning breakfast and go for a morning game drive in Tarangire National Park, look out for animals like large herds of elephants, zebras, Thomson gazelles, buffaloes and lions.
The exit the park and embark on a journey to Serengeti National Park – the most popular wildlife safari destination in Tanzania and Africa as well, Serengeti is named from a local Maa language meaning “endless plains”. On an overall the park covers a land area of 14,763 sq kms and is home to the Big Five – lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, rhinos and elephants and The Great Wildebeest Migration.
With picnic lunch, you will embark have a game drive on which you will see a variety of wildlife calling Serengeti home including lions, leopards, wildebeests, rhinos, gazelles among others. Head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Central Serengeti to North Serengeti
Have early breakfast and head to the central region of Serengeti National Park and move towards the northern part of Serengeti. The enroute game drive towards the Kogatende region will offer mild action from resident game, as you approach the northern part of the park you will notice the terrain change from the usual plain grassland to a more hilly and broken terrain.
The northern region offers a variety of resident game such as zebras, topi, gazelle, buffaloes, leopards and lions. Have picnic lunch and continue exploring the park by the Mara River.

Day 4: North Serengeti
Have a delicious breakfast and head out for a full day game drive with packed lunch.
In the months between mid-June to September the migration can be found in this region, in this time of the year the Mara River in this region offers the most dramatic river crossing of the great migration. Fierce, deep and heavily rain fed river takes an enormous toll on the migrating wildebeest. Watching the wildebeests surging through the torrential flow, some of them drown and a few falling prey to lurking crocodiles is an unforgettable sight.
If you are lucky, you will be able to witness this natural wonder and watch nature take its course. While tracing the great migration you might even move towards the Lobo Valley, this pristine valley is scattered with woodlands, plains, hills and famous granite Kopjes. It offers enormous amount of big cat game with lions, leopards and cheetahs which are in plenty.
During the dry season the permanent water sources in the valley attract plenty of resident and migratory animals. During the full day game drive you will have a stop where you can have your picnic lunch. Retire to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Central Serengeti (North Serengeti to Central Serengeti)
Start your day with breakfast and head south towards the Central Serengeti, it is a 4 hour drive to the Centre offering you a mild enroute game. The drive south from the Mara River Valley takes you through hill country, the Lobo Area, woodlands and then back into the Seronera terrain. The Central Region of Serengeti – known as Seronera Area is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, it features the Seronera River which provides available water source to this area and attracts abundant wildlife.
As you make your way into the Seronera Region, you will begin to notice the hilly and broken terrain altering into plain grasslands. While in Seronera, lookout for the many lion prides that thrive in this region, the interactions and survival of these lion prides provide an excellent game viewing experience all year round. A picnic lunch will be done during the day long drive, later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Ngorongoro (Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro)
After breakfast, you will head out for a short game drive in Serengeti as you head to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, it is a drive of about 3 hours and when you arrive in the crater. You will go for a guided Crater Rim Walk where you will have a close encounter with several wildlife species such as giraffes, elands, zebras among others.
Ngorongoro Crater is one Africa’s most impressive geological attractions and supreme mecca of wilderness, retire to your lodge for check, dinner and overnight stay.

Meal: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater Tour – Arusha
On the last day of your safari, you will have early breakfast, descend at around 6:30 am into the crater floor for a game viewing experience. Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera with a massive floor of about 260 sq.kms and a depth of over 2000 feet.
During the game drive, you will enjoy sightings of several animals including black rhinos, hippos, hyenas, cheetahs and lions. After picnic lunch, you will ascend the crater and embark on a journey to Arusha where you will be dropped off either at your hotel or at the airport for your onward flight back home bring your safari to an end.
