Detailed itinerary of 7 Days Masai Mara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater

Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara, Game Drive

Your Kenya Safari guide shall pick you from your hotel in Nairobi City or from the airport upon arrival. He will brief you about the safari and then start your drive to Masai Mara National Reserve through the famous Maasai town of Narok where you will have a brief stop for craft shopping then proceed to the lodge, check in, have refreshments and a short rest.

Later you will go for an evening game drive in Masai Mara in search for African big five live lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, buffaloes and other game. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2&3: Full Day Game Drive in Masai Mara game reserve, Maasai Cultural Tour

 Spend these two days exploring the endless plains of Masai Mara on full day game drives with picnic lunch. The full day game drive presents a chance to extensively explore the reserve and enjoy excellent game sightings, lookout for animals like zebras, gazelles, lions, leopards, giraffes, cheetahs, elands, Thomson Gazelles, buffaloes among others.

If you visit in the time of the Great Migration, you will have a chance to witness thousands of wildebeests accompanied by gazelles and zebras on their annual migration in search for water and green pastures. Also have a chance to witness the Mara River Crossing.

After picnic lunch, you will continue exploring the reserve till sunset, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer from Masai Mara to Serengeti National Park

Have a very early breakfast, checkout of your lodge and with packed lunch embark on a journey out of the reserve heading to Serengeti National Park with border crossing at Isebania.

After clearing with the authorities from the border customs office, then proceed to Serengeti National Park. When you arrive in the park, you will have en-route game drive as you head to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Full Day in Serengeti National Park

After a sumptuous breakfast at the lodge, drive out for a full day game drive with your packed lunch. You will spend the full day in Seronera Area of Serengeti, enjoy big game around Seronera River. Some of the animals to lookout for include lions, Thomson gazelles, cheetahs, zebras and topis among others.

After the game drive, you will proceed to the Visitor Center for your lunch, the center offers some interesting wildlife displays as well as a gift shop selling information leaflets and maps of the area. 

Continue with a game drive to the Kopjes – the weathered granite outcrops, scattered around the plains, most of which are miniature ecosystems providing shade and drinking water pools left in the rock after the rains. The Kopjes are good hunting grounds for lions especially in dry seasons when most wildlife come to have a dip and drink up. Look for other animals which you might have missed during the morning game drive. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Olduvai Gorge Visit, Optional Crater Rim Walk

After breakfast at your lodge, proceed for a transfer out of Serengeti while on en-route game drive with your packed lunch heading to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

You will have a visit the Olduvai Gorge for a chance to learn about the early life of man and findings by Dr. Mary and Louis Leaky. 

Proceed through Ngorongoro Conservation Area as you watch the local Maasai people freely moving within the conservancy and wildlife.

Proceed to the lodge, check in and relax as you wait for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater Drive, Departure

Have early breakfast at the lodge and descend over 600 meters into the crater for game viewing with packed lunch.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area supports a vast variety of animals including herds of wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, elands, warthogs, hippos and giant African elephants. The picturesque landscapes and its dense population of predators is another draw card for Ngorongoro Conservation Area, predators to lookout for during the game drive include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the elusive leopard.

Also, you will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner of the crater. Here you will see a large number of flamingoes, hippos and other water birds.

After your picnic lunch, you will ascend, exit the crater and embark on a journey back to Arusha for a dropoff either at your hotel or at the airport for your onward flight.
