Detailed itinerary of 5 Days Serengeti Wildebeest Migration Safari

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After early breakfast or after upon arrival on Kilimanjaro International Airport, proceed for a drive to Tarangire National Park for game drives with picnic lunch.

Tarangire National Park is a popular Tanzania Safari Destination renowned for large herds of elephants, spectacular landscape dotted by iconic baobab trees and Tarangire River which attracts animals from the surrounding area.

During the game drive you will see large herds of elephants, lions, leopards, elands, hartebeests, gazelles, impalas, buffaloes, zebras among others.

In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Tarangire to Northern Serengeti

After breakfast, head towards the Serengeti via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – home to Big Five and its endless plains.

When you arrive in the park, you will head to the Central Region known as the Seronera Area – one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park featuring the Seronera River which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts a variety in the park.

Enjoy picnic lunch at Nabi Gate and enjoy a late afternoon game drive towards the Northern Serengeti.

Day 3: Northern Serengeti National Park

After having breakfast, you will head out for a full day game drive following the Migrating herds. You will see large columns of wildebeests, zebras and elands on their journey. You will also see wildebeests, zebras, topis, hartebeests, elands, antelopes, hyenas and various birds singing on the trees.

While viewing the beautiful landscape and nature.

The migration reaches northern Serengeti in July, August and the beginning of November. The herds cross the grasslands on either bank of crocodiles infested Mara River twice, as they complete their migration journey. You will also enjoy the magical sunset, then return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: North Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will have a morning game drive for about three hours. Then you will proceed with en-route game drive to Ngorongoro Crater with picnic lunch.

Today you have an option of Crater Rim Walk on the edges of Ngorongoro Crater and get a close encounter with wildlife including giraffes, gazelles, elands, and zebras among others. Head to your lodge for check-in and overnight.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater Tour & Departure

Have early breakfast and descend into the crater floor for a game drive with picnic lunch, Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact unfilled caldera in the world and home to a variety of wildlife including the Big Five – lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, elephants and rhinos. Other animals you will see during the game drive on the crater floor include antelopes, zebras, giraffes, cheetahs, gazelles, wildebeests and flamingoes along alkaline lake – Lake Magadi in the corner of Ngorongoro Crater.

After picnic lunch, you will continue with the game drive as you head out and embark on a journey back to Arusha.

You will be dropped off either at your hotel or at Kilimanjaro International Airport to catch your flight back home.
