Detailed itinerary of 12 Day Gorillas Wildebeests & Victoria Falls African Safari

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide and transfer to Volcanoes National park. Depending on your time of arrival, you will have a short Kigali City Tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Site and the local markets, then head to the park.

When you arrive in the park, you will spend the rest of the day at the lodge enjoying the surrounding and get ready for the next day’s exciting adventure. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking and transfer back to Kigali

Have early morning breakfast served at the lodge, meet your guide and head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about gorilla trekking. Meet your rangers and groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, head into the forest looking for mountain gorillas.

The gorilla trekking experience takes anywhere between 2-6 hours depending on the location of mountain gorillas on that particular day, you will be allocated a time frame of one hour of staying with the gorillas in the natural habitat, watch them play and feed. Afterwards, return to the lodge for lunch. Check out and embark on a journey back to Kigali arriving in the late afternoon. Check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Fly to Arusha and Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater

Wake up early and be driven to Kigali International Airport to catch your morning flight to Arusha’s Kilimanjaro International Airport. You will be warmly welcomed by our Tanzania representative and embark on a journey to Ngorongoro Crater.

Arrive in the evening, check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Full Day in Ngorongoro Crater

Enjoy early breakfast, descend Ngorongoro Crater for a full day game drive with picnic lunch.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area is home to Ngorongoro Crater – the largest intact unfilled caldera in the world, the crater is home to the world’s largest population of wildlife in Africa and is listed among the 7 Natural Wonders in the world.

During the game drive you will enjoy spotting several animals calling the crater floor home including lion, leopards, buffaloes, gazelles, cheetahs, giraffes, baboons and hippos among others. You will also visit Lake Magadi in the corner of the caldera where you will see thousands of flamingoes and other bird species.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will embark on a journey to Serengeti National Park with en-route visit at Olduvai Gorge where you will see several fossils discovered by Dr. Leakey. Continue to Serengeti National Park with en-route lunch, go for a game drive exploring the savannah plains of Serengeti and expect to spot several animals including baboons, hippos, zebras, cheetahs, elephants, lions and several bird species. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6-7: Serengeti National Park

These two days are dedicated to exploring The Serengeti on full day game drives with picnic lunch.

Serengeti National Park is named from a local Maasai word meaning “Endless Plains”, the park has become famous as a scenic and classical safari destinations. The park stretches along a vast plateau between the eastern arm of the rugged Rift Valley and the huge expanse of Lake Victoria, Serengeti is famous for its vast, open grasslands which allow for excellent sightings of the abundant wildlife.

Serengeti boasts an incredible number of wildlife and is best known as the site of the annual Great Migration, when an estimated three million wildebeests accompanied by gazelles and zebras follow the seasonal rains in search for water and fresh grasslands. You will watch this greatest spectacle in the natural world taking place in the plains of Serengeti, other animals to lookout include cheetahs, lions, leopards and African wild dogs which keenly follow the migrating herds.

Day 8: Transfer back to Arusha

After breakfast at your lodge, you will bid farewell to Serengeti National Park and embark on a drive back to Arusha with en-route game drive and lunch.

Arrive in late afternoon and your guide will drop you off at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Fly to Victoria Falls

After breakfast, you will be taken to the airport to catch your flight to Victoria Falls International Airport. Upon landing, you will be welcomed by our guide and be transferred to Victoria Falls which is approximately 23km away, spend the afternoon at the lodge relaxing or enjoy a beautiful sunset cruise. Have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Victoria Falls – Guided Tour of The Falls

After breakfast, you will head out and explore the magical Victoria Falls upclose and on foot. Feel the thunder, be touched by the mist and enjoy endless great views as you walk the path hovering up close to the falls.

For a more adventure, you can take a flight over the falls for aerial views. This is unforgettable experience to have on the Victoria Falls. End the day with a delicious buffet dinner at the Boma Restaurant, enjoy Zimbabwean Cuisine with great entertainment performed by the lodge. Dinner and overnight.

Day 11: White Water Rafting

Have early morning breakfast, meet your drive and transfer you to the edge of the gorge for a white water rafting experience. A senior guided will explain in detail what you are likely to expect during the day and how to deal with the situation. You will then be issued a life jacket, paddle and helmet.

The might Zambezi River offers some of the best rafting experiences in the world, after rafting you will then have walk out of the gorge which is a very steep climb of about 250m, at the gorge lunch will be served and plenty of soft drinks and beers after which you will transfer to your lodge, relax, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 12: Departure

This marks the end of your Safari Adventure, after breakfast you will be transferred to Victoria Falls for your departure flight.
