Detailed itinerary of 10 Days Uganda Tanzania Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha, Tanzania

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our representative “your driver guide” will warmly welcome you and be transferred to your hotel in Arusha City. On the drive you will have a real taste of Tanzanian life, spend the rest of the day at your lodge/hotel. Have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Fly to Serengeti National Park

After a sumptuous breakfast you will checkout of your lodge and be transferred to Arusha Airstrip to catch your flight to Serengeti National Park, upon landing you will be meet by your safari – driver guide and embark on a game drive exploring the endless plains and catch sightings of several iconic wildlife species including lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, giraffes, cheetahs, giraffes, gazelles, wildebeests among others.

You will enjoy picnic lunch and continue exploring Serengeti National Park till evening, head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Serengeti National Park also known as The Serengeti is a World Heritage Site teeming with wildlife including the Big Five and the world’s largest migration of land mammals “The Great Wildebeest Migration”.

Day 3 – 4: Explore Serengeti

Spend these two days exploring Serengeti National Park of full day game drives and optional balloon safaris and Visits to Masai Village.

Wake up on the breathtaking sunrise and scent of the African wild, have a hearty breakfast and head to the park for a full day game drive. During the game drives you will be treated to incredible sightings of the endless plains of Serengeti, lookout for several animals including lions, leopards, buffaloes, zebras, elands, giraffes among others.

If you visit in the right time for the Great Migration, you will witness millions of wildebeests and thousands of zebras and gazelles on their annual journey across the Serengeti – Mara Ecosystem in search for water and green pastures.

You will have picnic lunch on these two full days in Serengeti, as the sun dips below the horizon. Head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Alternatively, you can soar in the sky on a balloon safari and enjoy aerial views of the endless plains of Serengeti and several animals. Also, you can have a cultural encounter with the Masai People in their village neighboring the park.

Day 5: Fly to Entebbe, Uganda

Today bring your stay in Serengeti National Park to an end, after a sumptuous breakfast you will check out of the lodge and with en-route game drive. Head to the airstrip to catch your flight back to Arusha.

You will connect to Kilimanjaro International Airport to catch your flight to Entebbe International Airport – Uganda. Upon landing, your guide will pick you up and be transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the evening relaxing, have dinner and overnight stay

Day 6: The Shoe Bill Encounter in Mabamba Swamps

Have a leisurely breakfast at your hotel and set out for the Mabamba Swamp- a lush sanctuary on the shores of Lake Victoria.

Mabamba Swamp is a haven for birdlife and the best place to see the pre-historic shoebill, its massive, clog-shaped bill, piercing gaze and statuesque stillness commands respect and it will amaze you. On a boat ride through the channels, keep your eyes out for its unmistakable silhouette. Imagine watching its fathers dappled in the morning light, patiently stalking fish in the shallows.

Mabamba Swamp supports a rich ecosystem supporting a diverse array of avian life, from vibrant kingfishers to majestic African fish eagles.

Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Fly to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Visit Batwa People

Have breakfast and head to Entebbe International Airport to catch your domestic flight to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, upon landing at Kisoro Airstrip you will be meet by your driver-guide and be driven to your lodge.

In the afternoon after your meals, you will head to the Batwa Village for a cultural encounter, be entertained by local dances and drama and learn more about the lifestyle of the Batwa, their cultures and traditions among others.

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking in Mystique Bwindi Forest

Today is one of the highlight days of the Safari, wake up early for breakfast and head to Park Headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking dos and don’ts conducted by a Senior Ranger of Uganda Wildlife Authority. In groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, then head into the forests of Bwindi looking for mountain gorillas.

Following the lead of the tracker, armed with his machete and walkie- talkie for updates from other groups, you will plunge into the dense forests. There are no trails in Bwindi Forest, just tangled vines, damp earth and the dappled light filtering through the leaves.

The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night, when you locate the gorillas you are allowed to spend one hour in their presence watching then go on with their life in the forest, watch then groom each and collect fruits and leaves which they feed on. You are allowed to take pictures as long as your flash light is off.

After this exciting experience, you will trek back to the park headquarters to receive your gorilla trekking certificates then head to your lodge and spend the rest of the day at relaxation.

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and Canoeing adventure

After a leisurely breakfast, check out of your lodge and embark on a journey to the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi the deepest lake in Uganda and the second deepest in Africa. The lake is a great destination for birders due to its various numbers of birds and eye – catching sceneries including the islands, hills and forests among others.

Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge after checking in, in the afternoon you will go for a canoeing experience along the lake and explore the various islands in the lake. You can also take a nature walk around the area. Later retire at the long and have dinner.

Day 10: Fly Back to Entebbe
